In terms of the actual work, Maurice never settles for adequacy and is always striving to make every program and offering therein as great and impactful as possible. The amount of time and effort he spends while at home thinking about the program and how to best improve it is truly extraordinary and really pays off...For one thing, it is refreshing and inspiring to work with someone as hard-working and caring as he is. Even if you never spoke with him, the quantity and quality of the work he does make it clear that he cares about the causes and people he works for. But for someone who puts as much of themselves into their work as Maurice, it is really remarkable how little credit he asks for when he succeeds.

Maurice and I met in 2013 at the Salvation Army Kroc Corps Community Center during a Saturday basketball clinic. From the moment we crossed paths, he impacted my life. Our relationship has grown monumentally since that day. Today in 2019, I look up to Maurice as a father figure, brother, mentor, and role model. I know that if I have a problem I can call on Maurice. I know that Maurice would be there for me as if I was his own child. Maurice has helped mold me into the man I am becoming. He taught me punctuality, how to be driven and to have a purpose. In all honesty, Maurice has saved me from falling victim to the streets of Philadelphia.

Before meeting Mr. Williams, I was very isolated and alone with youth in my age range. I always felt like I was alone and could not confide in a friend. Mr. Williams introduced me to the ambitious youth of my age, with the same goal as me, to change the state of the world. After meeting these engaging individuals, I had a new trust for Mr. Williams. He always had my best interest in mind. Because of Mr. Williams, I attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA and joined a Dual Degree Program. I am now studying Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, on a scholarship.

Minds Matter of Philadelphia brought Maurice in to speak to its students in late 2018, and he captivated the audience with his words and actions. He gave our students actionable steps to take when following their dreams such as the acronym GRIT. I am more than excited to bring Maurice back in 2019 to speak to our students and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a personable and powerful speaker to motivate their audiences.
